As we get nearer to our MVR club member's event, we wanted to reach out and give you a little bit more information and also to personally invite you along as we appreciate it may feel daunting to sign up for a "proper" event!
The plan is to have runners going off in small waves to ensure we don't all overwhelm the local footpaths at the same time so you'll all be quite well spread, or you can sign up at the same wave as a friend and stick together. Although we've set waves for the different distances (5k and 10k), you can change your mind on the day if you're feeling strong and want to continue or you're welcome to stop at the aid station and have a drink and cupcake (very kindly donated by a club member). The route is a mixture of road and trail, but road shoes should be fine unless the weather suddenly changes!
It will be a 5k loop, starting and finishing on the field next to The Howard of Effingham School, who have kindly given us permission to use the school car park for event parking. We'll have water available at the half way/end point but there will be no toilet facilities available at the school.
The committee and sub-commitee support group have worked really hard to ensure this is a fun, sociable, but also competitive event - we will be timing the runners, and we will have spot prizes donated by various businesses. We also have stunning MVR bespoke medals and race numbers, as well as an official photographer so it really will be like a proper event.
We have a hardy team of marshal's to man the road crossings and other parts of the route - if you'd like to be added to the marshaling team, please let one of the committee or run leaders know as we have space for a couple more.
Hopefully you agree that all in all it looks like it's going to be a fantastic event!
Wave 1 is already full but there are some spaces in later waves, and we can add more if these fill up but we do have a maximum number we can accommodate on the day so please don't leave it too long to sign up if you are keen to run!
